Season Duration: November 5 – December 22

Cost: Two Options

Practice Schedule:

  • Practices are held twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) at Le Roy High School.

  • Events: 3 home meets at Le Roy High School and 2 optional tournaments (Gibson City and Clinton).

Eligibility:

  • Grades: Kindergarten – 4th Grade

  • Age Groups: Tots (ages 5-6), Bantam (ages 7-8), Intermediate (ages 9-10)

The Panther Youth Wrestling Club was founded in 2006 to introduce kids to the sport of wrestling. It provides a great way to build experience and prepare for competition at the junior high and high school levels. Our club is a member of the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation (IKWF) and USA Wrestling (USAW). PYWC is made up of wrestlers from Le Roy and Tri-Valley and serves as a feeder program to the Le Roy Tri-Valley Co-Op Junior High and High School Wrestling Teams. Our focus is on developing fundamentals, improving body awareness, building basic wrestling knowledge, and most importantly—having fun!

New for the 2024 Season:
We now offer a Local Only Option and a Tournament Team Option.

  • Local Only Option: Includes practices and showcases only ($40 to PYWC).

  • Tournament Team Option: Includes practices, showcases, and participation in two tournaments ($80 total—$20 to PYWC, $60 to IKWF/USA Wrestling).

Registration Information:

  • Le Roy Wrestlers: Tuesday, October 22nd, 6:00-7:00 PM, Le Roy High School Cafeteria

  • Tri-Valley Wrestlers: Thursday, October 24th, 6:00-7:00 PM, Tri-Valley Middle School Multipurpose Room

  • Additional Sign-Up: Tuesday, October 29th, 6:00-7:00 PM, Le Roy High School Cafeteria

Coaches will be available to discuss the club and answer any questions.

Membership Fees:

  1. $40 for Local Only Option, or $20 for Tournament Team Option.

  2. Make checks payable to PYWC.

Membership Includes:

  • Use of wrestling uniform (singlet) with team logo (must be returned).

  • PYWC administrative fee.

  • Tournament Team Option includes USA Wrestling and IKWF membership (parents must register at

  • A birth certificate is required for IKWF registration (new wrestlers only).

  • Practices are held at Le Roy High School. Enter and exit through the Aux Gym Door 17.

  • Tuesday, November 5th: Practice, 6:00-7:15 PM (short parent meeting after practice).

  • Thursday, November 7th: Practice, 6:00-7:15 PM.

  • Tuesday, November 12th: Practice, 6:00-7:15 PM.

  • Thursday, November 14th: Practice, 6:00-7:15 PM.

  • Tuesday, November 19th: Practice, 6:00-7:15 PM.

  • Thursday, November 21st: Practice, 6:00-7:15 PM.

  • Tuesday, November 26th: Practice, 6:00-7:15 PM (no practice on Thursday, November 28th).

  • Showcases:

    • Tuesday, December 3rd: Showcase 1, 6:00-8:00 PM, Le Roy High School.

    • Tuesday, December 10th: Showcase 2, 6:00-8:00 PM, Le Roy High School.

    • Thursday, December 19th: Showcase 3, 6:00-8:00 PM, Le Roy High School.

  • Optional Tournaments:

    • Saturday, December 7th: Gibson City Tournament ($30 additional cost).

    • Sunday, December 22nd: Clinton Tournament ($30 additional cost).

Competitions:

  • Panther Youth Wrestling Showcases:
    Held on weeknights at Le Roy High School, these events give all wrestlers the opportunity to compete in front of family and friends.

  • Tournaments:
    Held on weekends, tournaments usually run from 9 AM to 2 PM with weigh-ins between 7 AM and 8 AM. Awards (medals or trophies) are typically given to all participants. Most tournaments do not have preset weight classes; brackets are determined by age (based on December 31, 2024) and weight, with about 5 lbs separating competitors to ensure fair competition.

Additional Tournament Team Expenses:

  • Wrestling Shoes and Headgear: Wrestlers must provide their own. Shoes range from $40 to $75, and headgear costs between $20 and $40. The club has a limited number of pre-worn shoes available. If you are not attending tournaments (showcases only), wrestling shoes and headgear are not required.

  • Tournament Fees: Typically $25-$30 per tournament, plus gate admission for family members.
